Sensex Sheds 571 Pts; Wipro, Reliance Infra Decline
The 30-share index Sensex declined about 3% during the week ended on November 19.
During the week, the BSE Sensex also hit its two-month low, on 2G spectrum allocation scandal and feeble worldwide signals.
The Sensex closed the week after shedding 571.45 points (2.84%) at 19,585.44 as against its last week closure.
Indian bourses saw extremely volatile trading during the week after India's leading statutory audit agency Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) stated that the minister of communications and IT randomly apportioned 2G spectrum that has resulted into a loss of Rs 1.76 trillion to the exchequer.
The BSE Sensex fell 345 points on the last trading session following late hour panic selling.
In contrast, the broad-based Nifty marked its closure over two-month low at 5,890.30.
The Nifty lost around 2% on Friday taking the weekly rejection to 181 points.
Broader markets also shut their shops in the negative terrain.
The BSE realty index dropped about 4% on Friday.
The BSE midcap index dropped 1.99% and the BSE smallcap index lost 2.08%on Friday.
The top losers in the Sensex pack included Reliance Infra (-5.25%); Hindalco Industries (-4.27%); Wipro (-4.01%) and RComm (-3.57%).
The majority of Asian markets closed the week in the negative terrain.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng marked its closure after losing 0.13% at 23,605.71.
